Question:  What about bribery?

Answer:   Bribery is a major sin, the Prophet  said,
عن عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو رضي الله عنهما قَالَ :
لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الرَّاشِي وَالْمُرْتَشِي .
رواه أحمد (6791) وأبو داود (3580) و  صححه الألباني
‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Amr (may Allaah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allaah   (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) cursed the one who gives a bribe and the one who takes it..
Narrated by Ahmad (6791) and Abu Dawood (3580) from classed as saheeh by al-Albaani

May Allah curse (ar-rashi) the one who pays and (al-mortashy) the one who takes the bribe and anyone in between.  The Prophet , predicted that the time will come when people would rename prohibited things in order to make things okay and seem fair to them.  Such as wine being called drinks and riba being called profit and girl friends being called friends while the relationship is an act of adultery, so be aware of that.   As far as those who say that they are only paying bribery to rid themselves of harm, let me ask them this, many people to avoid a traffic ticket would bribe the officer, well that is bribery because you are in violation.  You should receive punishment for the mistake that you made.  By paying the bribe you are both making a major sin.
