Is it o.k. to take money from my husband if he doesn’t know about it?

QUESTION:

Is it o.k. to take money from my husband if he doesn’t know about it?

ANSWER:

If it is agreed between you and your husband that you take money to buy food, pay the tuition and buy school supplies within moderation, and it is agreed and understood then that is fine.  However, to take from the husband’s wealth in an excessive amount and without his permission there is a restriction here because it is his wealth and taking from him is like taking from anyone else.  Once a woman came to the Prophet   and she said,

Hind bint ‘Utbah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: O Messenger of Allah, Abu Sufyaan is a stingy man and does not give me enough for me and my children, unless I take from him without him knowing. He said: “Take what is sufficient for you and your children on a reasonable basis.”
Narrated by AlBukhari
We really don’t know how much is enough for you and your children but it is always better to have an agreement between the both of you
